ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center
The only public tour of a modern working copper mine in all of Southern Arizona; which features a free exhibit center, video theater, cactus garden, and The Company Store gift shop. One-hour bus tours of the ASARCO Mission mine take visitors to the rim of the open pit mine and into the heart of the grinding mill building. Freeport-McMoRan Bagdad Mine
Freeport-McMoRan’s Bagdad Mine, in Yavapai County, offers guided mine tours free of charge to the public. To schedule a tour, please call 928-633-3490. The tours begin at 10:00 a.m. and are generally scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays pending availability. Rosemont Copper Mine Tour & Rosemont Activity Center
Free tours are held twice a week; Wednesdays & Saturdays 9:00 am - Noon. There is a maximum of 10 people per tour, and due to the nature of the tour no one under 12-years-old is allowed. Curis Resources Florence Copper Project
Escorted tours of the Florence Copper property are held on the first and third Friday of the month from September to May. Tours include a description of previous ISCR activities and infrastructure on site, and a general overview of the major elements of Florence Copper -- including introductions to key staff and an explanation of the in-situ coppery recovery process. Tours start at 10:00 AM, last about 90 minutes, and are subject to space limitations. Located in eastern Arizona about an hour drive northeast of Safford on the scenic Coronado Trail, this site provides a spectacular view of Arizona's largest mining operation, Freeport McMoRan Morenci mine. Approximately 85 miles east of Phoenix is the ASARCO-owned Ray mine, and a major Arizona copper producer. Mining operations and equipment may be viewed here daily from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm or until dusk. The overlook is located approximately 12 miles south of Superior on Highway 177.
